Iran’s rejection of US peace talks claims has added fresh tension to the ongoing conflict, as Tehran dismissed Washington’s assertions of constructive dialogue.
Iranian military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari stated that no official negotiations had taken place. He accused the United States of attempting to portray its position as stronger than it is.
Zolfaqari rejected the idea of progress in diplomacy. He said that if the United States had real strategic strength, it would not face the current situation. He urged Washington not to present its position as an agreement or diplomatic success. His remarks directly contradicted recent statements from US President Donald Trump.
Trump Claims Progress, Iran Denies Talks
Earlier, Trump stated that the US and Iran had engaged in “constructive conversations” aimed at resolving tensions. However, reports suggest no formal communication occurred between the two sides.
The disagreement highlights a widening gap between official narratives from Washington and Tehran. The situation escalated after Trump set, and later withdrew, a deadline for potential strikes on Iran’s energy facilities.
Iran had warned it would respond by targeting power and energy infrastructure across the region if attacked. This exchange increased fears of broader escalation.

Zolfaqari delivered a firm message, stating that Iran would not accept pressure or threats. He emphasised that regional stability depends on Iran’s military strength. He also dismissed the possibility of returning to previous economic or political conditions, suggesting that long-term tensions will persist.
The latest exchange shows no clear path toward immediate de-escalation. While the US signals openness to dialogue, Iran continues to deny any such engagement. As both sides maintain firm positions, uncertainty remains over whether diplomacy can take hold in the near future.
