On March 8, 2025, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei fired back at U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for nuclear talks, branding it a “bullying” move to “impose expectations.”
Trump, in a Fox Business interview Friday, pitched a deal to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions—hours before reinstating his “maximum pressure” sanctions playbook. The Iran Nuclear Talks standoff escalates as Tehran doubles down, with regional stakes soaring.

Khamenei’s Defiance
Meeting senior officials, Khamenei blasted Washington’s motives, per state media: “Negotiations aren’t to solve problems they’re a path to domination.” He vowed Iran won’t bend, saying, “It’s not just about nukes they want more, and we won’t give it.” Trump’s dual-track talk deal or military action revives his 2018 exit from the Iran nuclear pact, which unleashed sanctions and spurred Tehran to ramp up uranium enrichment past agreed limits, alarming the UN’s Rafael Grossi. Iran insists it’s all peaceful.

Qatar’s Dire Warning
Qatar’s PM, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, upped the ante in a Tucker Carlson interview Friday, warning an attack on Iran’s Gulf nuclear sites—like Bushehr—could poison the sea, slashing water for Gulf states. “We’d be dry in three days,” he said, citing desalination woes. Though Iran’s enrichment hubs lie inland, he stressed regional “safety concerns,” pushing diplomacy over bombs. “Tehran’s ready to talk,” he added, eyeing a tense Iran Nuclear Talks lifeline.
