Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that Iranian officials swiftly deactivated 30 coordinated bomb threats in Tehran, capturing 28 affiliated suspects with Daesh.
The national intelligence department disclosed that some of the arrested individuals have existing affiliations with Daesh and have been previously linked to Takfiri factions in diverse regions, including Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
Past Attacks Attributed to Daesh
Daesh has a history of claiming responsibility for multiple assaults on Iranian soil. A poignant reminder is the 2017 dual explosions targeting Iran’s legislative building and the resting place of the nation’s founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Furthermore, Daesh pronounced its involvement in a tragic assault on a Shia pilgrimage site in the preceding year’s October, leading to 15 fatalities in Shiraz, located in Iran’s southwest.
