Virat Kohli once again demonstrated why he is called the “Chase Master” by scoring an outstanding unbeaten half-century in the Indian Premier League 2024 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Koli’s outstanding performance led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a decisive 7-wicket win against the reigning champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), in the season opener on Saturday.
KKR, led by debutant captain Ajinkya Rahane, started strong, with Rahane scoring a fifty off just 25 balls. However, RCB’s Krunal Pandya shifted the momentum by taking an impressive 3 wickets for 29 runs, which limited KKR to a disappointing 174 runs for 8 wickets.
RCB’s Dominant Chase
RCB’s chase began explosively, thanks to Phil Salt, who smashed a 31-ball 56 against his former franchise. Salt and Kohli’s 95-run opening partnership set the tone for the chase. Kohli then took centre stage, racing to a 30-ball fifty with three sixes and four fours, sealing the victory in just 16.2 overs.
