New rumors about Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max suggest it may become the company’s heaviest smartphone model yet. The device could weigh more than 240 grams according to recent leaks from reliable sources.

This potential weight increase follows a recent trend toward heavier iPhone models. The current iPhone 17 Pro Max already shifted to aluminum construction, increasing its weight to 233 grams from the titanium iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 227 grams.

The rumored iPhone 18 Pro Max would surpass even the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 240-gram weight if these leaks prove accurate. This represents a steady progression toward heavier flagship models within Apple’s smartphone lineup.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the upcoming Pro Max model will feature both increased thickness and weight. The exact reasons behind this design change remain unspecified in current reports.

Potential Factors Behind the Weight Gain

Industry observers speculate that a larger battery could contribute significantly to the additional weight. The iPhone 17 Pro Max already incorporated an expanded battery, and further capacity increases seem likely for future models.

Apple may also be incorporating additional internal components or structural reinforcements that add mass. However, the company has not confirmed any specific design changes for its 2026 smartphone lineup.

Recent leaks also suggest significant design updates for the iPhone 18 Pro models. These may include a slightly transparent back panel that reveals some internal components, representing a departure from Apple’s traditional opaque designs.

The devices will likely maintain the stainless-steel vapor chamber cooling system introduced in iPhone 17 Pro models. This thermal management technology helps maintain performance during intensive tasks. The iPhone 18 Pro series may feature a variable aperture system for improved photographic capabilities. This technology would allow better control over light intake in different shooting conditions.

Front-facing cameras might transition to a hole-punch design, potentially replacing the Dynamic Island introduced in recent iPhone models. This change could provide more screen real estate while maintaining facial recognition capabilities.
