An internet user from India shared his grandfather’s 92-year-old British Indian passport, which amazed many users.
Anshuman Singh tweeted that his grandfather was 31 when the passport was granted in Lahore, Pakistan. Author: “My grandfather’s 1931 “British Indian Passport” He was 31.” Panjab Rai’s passport was valid in Kenya Colony and India until 1936. The photos display the passport’s photo and Urdu signature.
One page of the passport reads, “These are to request and require in the Name of the Viceroy and Governor-General of India all those who it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford him every assistance and protection of which he may stand in need,” along with the stamp of the then-Government of Punjab.
The post has over a thousand likes and 100,000 views. It was called a “treasure” by many. Some say the passport merits a museum.
