Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi instructed Nadra to deactivate mobile phone SIMs issued under invalid or expired IDs during his Nadra headquarters visit in Islamabad. He toured various sectors and proposed replicating Punjab’s model police stations to establish model Nadra offices nationwide, aiming to enhance service delivery and public convenience.
Nadra Chairman Lt General Muhammad Munir Afsar greeted Naqvi upon his arrival. During their meeting, Naqvi directed the waiver of death certificate fees and emphasized the importance of securing citizen data. He advocated building model Nadra offices for faster services, enhancing mobile facilities for user convenience, and suggesting effective social media use to promote Nadra’s efforts.
As earlier reported, the FBR’s plan to block 500,000 SIMs of tax non-filers and under-filers post-Eid ul Fitr marks a significant crackdown on tax evasion. This measure, prepared with the PTA, targets 400,000 under-filers and 100,000 non-filers identified for non-compliance. Top officials confirmed these plans, emphasizing the stringent steps against tax evasion, scheduled for implementation by April 2024.
