Marina Smith, an influencer and past Miss Bumbum winner from Sao Paulo, Brazil, will celebrate the holidays in solitude this year as her friends have chosen not to include her in their Christmas dinner.
In an interview with NeedToKnow, Smith explained that her friends feel insecure about her appearance, fearing she could potentially attract their partners. “I’ve been banned from Christmas dinner because the women are concerned I might tempt their husbands and boyfriends,” she expressed.
Despite her beauty, Smith insists that attractiveness should not justify social exclusion. “Yes, I am a beautiful woman, but that is not a valid reason to leave me out,” she stated, clarifying that she has never made advances toward her friends’ partners. She lamented that their insecurities deprived them of having her as the “best friend” they could have.
This situation is not unique to Smith; many women have faced similar social exclusions due to their appearance. Sabrina Low, a 23-year-old social media influencer, shared her experience of exclusion from a bridal party. The bride feared Low’s slender figure would draw too much attention. “The groom mentioned that they discussed my exclusion in a WhatsApp group I wasn’t part of,” Low explained to The New Post.
Shye Lee, a 29-year-old from Florida, also spoke about judgments based on appearance, pointing out that people often respond to looks rather than actions. “People react to how you look, not what you do,” Lee noted.
Smith feels excluded from gatherings, intensifying her isolation, especially since she is single and misses couple-centric events. This limits her social life as friends typically socialize with their partners. Now, being single and attractive seems to make them insecure,” she states.
While Smith often wears bold and stylish outfits highlighting her figure, she emphasized that her intention has never been to seek attention or attract her friends’ partners. “The issue isn’t with me,” she reiterated, highlighting the unfairness of the situation.
