A British-Pakistani TikTok influencer Mahek Bukhari, 24, and her mother Ansreen Bukhari, 46, have been found guilty of murder.
The mother-daughter duo was at the centre of a deadly scheme resulting in the untimely demise of two 21-year-old men, Saqib Hussain and Hashim Ijazuddin.
The fatal incident occurred in February 2022 near Leicester, where the victims’ car was brutally forced off the road, culminating in a deadly crash. It emerged during the trial that this horrific incident resulted from a threat by Saqib Hussain to reveal his affair with Ansreen Bukhari.
The court painted a horrifying crime narrative, outlining how Mahek Bukhari manipulated her notable social media standing to trap Saqib Hussain into a fateful meeting. The young men’s vehicle was chased and coerced off the road, resulting in a lethal accident.
Guilty Verdicts and Heartbreak
In addition to the Bukhari duo, Rekhan Karwan and Raees Jamal were convicted of murder, while others were found guilty of manslaughter. The verdict came after a painstaking 28 hours of jury deliberation.
The shattered families of the victims expressed their immense grief and heartbreak over their tragic losses. Saqib Hussain was remembered as a beloved young man, while Hashim Ijazuddin was hailed for his kindness and empathy. The families mourned the pointless violence that left a permanent vacuum.
Judge Timothy Spencer KC highlighted the gravity of the crime and the upcoming sentencing as he prepares to sentence Mahek Bukhari and her mother on September 1st. As the case concludes, it leaves behind a grim reminder of the devastation brought by violence and deceit.
