Cricket fans are in for a treat as India and Pakistan gear up for a thrilling showdown at the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Scheduled for October 5, 2025, at the neutral R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, this high-stakes clash promises to captivate audiences worldwide.

The 13th edition of the Women’s ODI World Cup runs from September 30 to November 2, 2025, across five venues in India and Sri Lanka: M Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), and R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo). Eight teams—India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan will compete for the prestigious title.

The tournament starts with a blockbuster match between co-hosts India and Sri Lanka on September 30 at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The semi-finals are set for October 29 (Guwahati or Colombo) and October 30 (Bengaluru), with the final on November 2 in Bengaluru or Colombo, depending on Pakistan’s qualification.

India vs Pakistan: A Rivalry Renewed

India’s clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 5 in Colombo is a tournament highlight. Due to political tensions, Pakistan will play all their matches at the neutral venue of Colombo, as agreed upon by the BCCI and PCB under a hybrid model. This arrangement mirrors recent events, such as India playing their 2025 Champions Trophy matches in Dubai instead of Pakistan.

India’s campaign continues with a match against Bangladesh on October 26 in Bengaluru, while Pakistan faces Bangladesh (October 2), England (October 15), New Zealand (October 18), South Africa (October 21), and Sri Lanka (October 24) in Colombo.

Key Matches and Team Schedules

  • Australia: The defending champions start against New Zealand on October 1 at Indore’s Holkar Stadium. They face Pakistan in Colombo and rematch England, their 2022 final rivals, on October 22 in Indore.
  • England: Key fixtures include South Africa (October 3, Bengaluru), Sri Lanka (October 11), and New Zealand (October 26, Guwahati).
  • Bangladesh: After facing Pakistan, they play three matches at Visakhapatnam’s ACA-VDCA Stadium and Sri Lanka in Colombo (October 20).
  • South Africa: They take on New Zealand (October 6) and Australia (October 25) in Indore.

The India-Pakistan encounter is more than a cricket match, it’s a cultural phenomenon that unites and divides fans across borders. Pakistan’s women’s team earned their spot by going unbeaten in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifiers in April 2025, showcasing their growing prowess. The neutral venue ensures a fair and safe environment, reflecting cricket’s ability to bridge divides.
