The eagerly awaited cricket match between archrivals India and Pakistan at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 witnessed an unprecedented rush for tickets, which sold out within minutes of their release on Monday.

Due to the intense demand, over 150,000 fans queued online, some waiting more than an hour. This group-stage encounter will unfold at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 23.

Cricket enthusiasts from various locales, including many residents of Dubai, expressed surprise at the rapid sale of tickets. Sudhashree, a resident, shared her astonishment, stating, “The speed at which the tickets were taken was unbelievable. By the time I got through, only the pricier categories were left, which were out of my budget.”

Many fans were disappointed when tickets quickly sold out, particularly for sought-after sections like the Platinum seats, which cost approximately Dh2,000 and the Grand Lounge tickets, which cost around Dh5,000. With the stadium’s capacity set at 25,000, this match underscored its high stakes and massive appeal.

An India vs Pakistan cricket match sparks fans’ excitement and stimulates significant economic benefits. Industry experts anticipate a boost in the hospitality, travel, and tourism sectors, expecting increased hotel bookings and possibly higher airfares as supporters from both countries flock to Dubai.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is a significant cricket event hosted jointly by Pakistan and the UAE. The tournament, which lasts 19 days, will be contested by Pakistan, the defending champions from the 2017 tournament in England. Pakistan will kick off the competition against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19. This tournament also represents Pakistan’s first major global cricket event since the Men’s ODI World Cup in 1996.

India and Australia, both historically successful teams in the Champions Trophy with two victories apiece, are significant contenders.
