India advanced to the Asia Cup 2025 final unbeaten after a dramatic Super Over victory over Sri Lanka in their final Super Four match on September 26, 2025, at Dubai International Stadium. Both teams tied at 202/5 in 20 overs, with Pathum Nissanka’s century nearly stealing the game for Sri Lanka. Arshdeep Singh’s 2/2 in the Super Over sealed India’s win, chasing 3 runs with 5 balls to spare.

Batting first after losing the toss, India posted 202/5. Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 61 off 31 balls (8 fours, 2 sixes) set the tone, including a 21-run over against Nasum Ahmed. Shubman Gill (4) fell early, but Tilak Varma (49* off 34) and Sanju Samson (39 off 27) added a crucial 66-run stand. Hardik Pandya (3) and Axar Patel (21* off 15) finished strongly. Sri Lanka’s bowlers, led by Maheesh Theekshana (1/37), fought back but couldn’t contain the total.

Sri Lanka’s chase was powered by Pathum Nissanka’s unbeaten 107 off 58 balls (6 sixes, 7 fours), the highest in Asia Cup 2025. With Kusal Perera’s 58 off 32 (8 fours, 1 six), they built a 127-run partnership. Early wickets from Jasprit Bumrah (1/28) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/18) put pressure, but Nissanka’s blitz tied the scores. Harshit Rana’s final over, needing 12 runs, saw a fumble allow two runs, forcing the Super Over.

Arshdeep Singh struck immediately, dismissing Kusal Perera (0) and Dasun Shanaka (0) for 2/2. Suryakumar Yadav hit the winning runs off Wanindu Hasaranga on the first ball, securing India’s sixth straight Asia Cup win. Arshdeep’s figures (1/46 in regulation) earned him praise.

India remains unbeaten and will face Pakistan in the final on September 28, marking a historic first. Sri Lanka exits after a valiant effort, with Nissanka’s knock a standout. The Super Over, the first in Asia Cup 2025, thrilled fans.
