Retired U.S. Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt stated that India’s arrogance is a key factor in Washington’s closer relationship with Pakistan.
Speaking on Piers Morgan’s show, Kimmitt highlighted the cordial bond between President Donald Trump and Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir.
He said, “India’s arrogance that’s been displayed to President Trump manifests itself in the fact that we are now becoming much closer to Pakistan.” Kimmitt added that the growing “bromance” between Trump and Munir should make New Delhi pause and reconsider.
Tensions escalated after Trump claimed to have prevented a nuclear war with India, a claim New Delhi rejects. The discord peaked during a June 17 phone call between Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following Trump’s abrupt departure from the G7 summit in Canada.
Field Marshal Munir visited the U.S. in June and held a rare one-on-one meeting with Trump at the White House amid an ongoing conflict between Pakistan and India. Washington aided ceasefire talks after Indian strikes targeting groups linked to the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Pakistan countered with Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, downing several Indian jets.

Despite this, PM Modi maintains that ties with Washington remain “very positive.” On social media, Modi expressed appreciation for Trump’s friendship and downplayed concerns about losing India to China. Trump echoed this sentiment, affirming a “special relationship” with India.
