The Gerontological Research Group (GRG) and Longevity Quest have confirmed that 115-year-old Ethel Caterham of Surrey, England, now holds the title of the world’s oldest person.

Lucas, who received a blessing from Pope Francis on her 110th birthday, had claimed a birthdate of May 27, 1908, but official records verified June 8, per GRG director Robert Young. Her passing marks the end of a remarkable life celebrated for spiritual commitment and resilience.
