Pakistani journalist and Metro News One anchor Imtiaz Mir is in critical condition after unidentified assailants opened fire on his vehicle late Sunday night near Kala Board in Malir, Karachi. Authorities identified Mir as a reporter for a private TV channel in Karachi. He was driving when the attack occurred.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a man and a woman riding a motorcycle fired shots at Mir’s car. He sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and face. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack. Rescue teams arrived promptly and transported the injured journalist to a nearby hospital, where he remains critically ill.
Police and Crime Scene Unit officers secured the scene and recovered two bullet casings from the vehicle. CCTV footage from the area is under review to aid investigations.

Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah strongly condemned the assassination attempt on Imtiaz Mir. He called the attack an assault on journalism and humanity. Shah reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to protecting the safety of journalists. He assured the public that those responsible would be brought to justice soon and wished Mir a swift recovery.

Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar took immediate notice of the incident. He ordered the swift arrest of the perpetrators and instructed SSP Korangi to submit a comprehensive report on the case.
