The Punjab govt has dedicated seven cells to Imran Khan, the imprisoned founder of PTI, at Adiala Jail and assigned 14 security guards for his protection.
As conveyed to the Lahore High Court (LHC) by the Punjab Advocate General during a hearing on a petition concerning Khan’s security risks, presented by the PTI Lawyers Forum President, it was disclosed that six additional cells had been allocated for Khan’s security alongside his own.
The court learned that while the standard security measure at Adiala Jail is one guard per ten inmates, Khan benefits from the protection of 14 officers. Moreover, his meals are prepared in a designated kitchen, ensuring his food remains uncontaminated.
To enhance security, additional CCTV cameras have been installed at a cost of Rs500,000. According to the report, the monthly expense for Khan’s security measures totals PKR 1.2 million.
Following the discussion, the hearing was postponed until post-Eid. Notably, Khan has been detained since August of the previous year, facing multiple charges.
