Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has departed for Islamabad from his Zaman Park residence to appear before several court cases.
The former Prime Minister is expected to appear at the Islamabad High Court and Judicial Complex, seeking bail in seven cases registered against him. These cases were registered following the vandalism during his last visit to the judicial complex. In addition, multiple cases were registered at the Ramna, CTD, and Golra police stations in Islamabad.
Before Khan’s departure, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) banned live and recorded coverage of rallies, public gatherings, and processions in Islamabad.
The regulator imposed the ban in response to the vandalism during Khan’s last appearance at the judicial complex, which created chaos and panic among the viewers and police.
PEMRA stated that airing such content violated the Supreme Court judgment in a suo motu case and the regulator’s rules. Therefore, their license will be suspended if TV channels do not comply with the ban.
The appearance of the PTI chairman in court is expected to draw a large crowd, and the PEMRA ban on coverage is meant to prevent any potential incidents from escalating.
Despite the ban, many are still interested in the outcome of the cases and the PTI chairman’s appearance in court. The former Prime Minister has been a prominent figure in Pakistani politics, and his court appearances are sure to garner attention and spark discussions among the public.
