Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s founder, Imran Khan, was in contact with the former DG of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed.
According to investigative findings by senior journalist Ansar Abbasi, informed sources have disclosed considerable details concerning the interactions between Imran Khan, PTI’s founding chairman, and former DG ISI, Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed. These interactions reportedly occurred after May 9 and after Khan’s arrest, utilizing various communication channels, including “jail networks,” certain political figures, and others to facilitate contact between Khan and the former intelligence chief.
Further revelations came to light following the recent arrest of Mohammad Akram, the former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail, who is alleged to have facilitated these communications. The sources affirmed the linkage when queried about the connection between Akram’s arrest and the reported communications
Media outlets reported that Mohammad Akram was apprehended for actions that purportedly eased Imran Khan’s imprisonmentremoval on June 20, Deputy Superintendent Judicial Tahir Siddique Shah assumed the role of Khan’s security supervisor.
Sources also indicate that military officials had repeatedly cautioned General Faiz regarding his activities post-retirement, which he reportedly ignored. As noted by multiple credible sources, these allegations highlight ongoing direct or indirect interactions between General Faiz and Imran Khan.
In light of General Faiz’s arrest, Imran Khan has distanced himself from the controversy. Reports from his legal team, who met with him at Adiala Jail, noted that Khan regards the arrest as an internal military matter and asserted that his party holds no ties to the incident.
