Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s legal team filed an appeal with the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and claimed Khan faces severe human rights abuses in detention. The Imran Khan detention concerns were led by Perseus Strategies, highlighting issues like solitary confinement and lack of medical care.
The appeal lists serious concerns about Khan’s treatment. It says he endures long periods alone, gets contaminated food, and has limited access to lawyers and family. The team argues these conditions break Pakistan’s promises under global human rights laws, including the Convention against Torture and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Khan’s son, Sulaiman Khan, spoke out in the filing. He said his father faces conditions no one should bear, calling them torture. Another son, Kasim Khan, noted that the UN had already called Imran Khan’s detention unlawful. He believes these hardships are an attempt to break his father, but Khan remains strong. Zulfi Bukhari, Khan’s adviser, praised his courage, calling him a symbol of peaceful resistance.
