Imran Khan, former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) voiced concerns about the cipher case against him, labelling it a “fixed match” with biased legal proceedings.
Imran Khan shared these views in an informal meeting with journalists following the cipher case proceedings at Adiala Jail on Saturday.
During the session, Khan accused journalist Najam Sethi of prematurely predicting his sentencing, suggesting Sethi had insider information. He called for the court to investigate Sethi’s sources.
Khan claimed the PTI crackdown infringes on basic human rights, stressing that freedoms are under threat in Pakistan.
He mentioned that his legal team, absent in court today due to election commitments, will actively challenge the case starting Monday.
Khan reiterated his belief in the partiality of the judicial process, comparing his frequent trial appearances to the leniency shown towards Nawaz Sharif. He criticized the alleged unequal treatment and the perceived alliance between Sharif and security forces, which he called “Vigo Dala”.
Dismissing the idea of involving President Arif Alvi in resolving these issues, Khan questioned the president’s influence in the current political landscape.
