The Imran Khan eye examination delay became the focus of political debate after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi alleged that Aleema Khan stalled the process for three days.
Speaking at a press conference, Naqvi said doctors who examined the former prime minister in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail briefed PTI leaders and Imran Khan’s medical team. According to him, the doctors expressed satisfaction with the treatment and progress.

He stated that the medical team confirmed all necessary tests had been conducted. However, he claimed that Aleema Khan advised party members not to accept the findings, arguing that doing so would weaken their political position.

Naqvi maintained that the matter could have been resolved earlier if there had been cooperation from the outset. He accused sections of the opposition of politicising the health issue rather than focusing on the medical facts.
The controversy comes after a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court confirmed that Imran Khan was diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). The report noted that he had complained of losing about 85% of vision in his right eye while in custody.
Following the diagnosis, PTI leaders and family members demanded that he be shifted to a hospital. The party and its allies have staged protests in Islamabad and other locations, seeking access for leadership and personal physicians.

Naqvi said authorities invited PTI to nominate a recognised eye specialist for further evaluation. He added that officials also facilitated meetings between opposition leaders and doctors at PIMS Hospital, where briefings took place, including consultations conducted by phone.
The interior minister rejected allegations of neglect and described claims about prison conditions as propaganda. He said the PTI founder is receiving facilities under the jail manual and insisted that medical records are clear.
Furthermore, Naqvi questioned whether similar attention is demanded for other inmates. He suggested that journalists be allowed to visit the jail to review conditions firsthand.
On security concerns, he said there were attempts to disrupt the Red Zone in Islamabad. Nevertheless, he emphasised that dialogue remains open and that the prime minister has repeatedly called for talks.
Meanwhile, political tensions continue as PTI maintains its protest over Imran Khan’s health.
