An accountability court indicted former Prime Minister Imran Khan, alongside his spouse Bushra Bibi, in a significant corruption case concerning £190 million. Imran is the principal accused, with Bushra Bibi, Shahzad Akbar, Zulfiqar Bukhari, Zia Mustafa, and Farah Shazadi (aka Farah Gogi) also implicated.
At the hearing, the accused refuted the allegations. The court summoned five of the 58 witnesses for future testimony. Imran’s legal team requested a legible copy of the case documents, emphasizing the necessity for clarity in the indictment process.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) charges involve a deceptive note allegedly produced by Akbar, misrepresenting an account to benefit Imran, who is accused of acquiring valuable land under dubious circumstances. Following his arrest and subsequent nationwide protests, the Supreme Court deemed his detention unlawful. The case continues, with the next hearing scheduled for March 6.
