Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has levied accusations against Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM), Attaullah.
Khan asserts that Attaullah sought to orchestrate a counter-protest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supporters against PTI activists. This move was allegedly in response to Imran Khan’s scheduled court appearance in Islamabad.
To support his claim, Khan shared an audio clip on Twitter. This clip was previously aired during the court proceedings of the Toshakhana case by the PTI legal team. Attaullah and Khan were in the courtroom when this audio was played.
In the audio message, Attaullah urged PML-N workers to gather at his office by 10 am in the PMLN’s office. From there, they would proceed to the court for the hearing. He states that PTI activists typically congregate in large numbers whenever Imran Khan appears in court. “Our presence in the court should be more [than PTI],” Attaullah allegedly says in the audio clip.
Attaullah’s Response and Future Implications
Attaullah referred to the PTI supporters’ court conduct in a subsequent press statement as disruptive and disrespectful. He accused PTI workers of misbehaving with the judge, raising slogans within the court, and attempting to disrupt the court’s sanctity. He claims the court issued a warning due to the PTI supporters’ actions.
The SAPM also accused the PTI of trying to turn the courtroom into a political rally. He warned that if this environment continues in the courts, it would be challenging for any judge to proceed with a case against the PTI.
