The Islamabad High Court has fixed March 11 for the Imran Khan £190 million appeal hearing, where he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, seek a suspension of their sentences in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan heard miscellaneous petitions requesting urgent listing of the main appeals. Barrister Salman Safdar appeared on behalf of the PTI founder.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced in January 2025 by Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana. The former prime minister received a 14-year sentence, while Bushra Bibi was handed a seven-year term.
Imran Khan £190 Million Appeal Hearing Set for March 11
During proceedings related to Imran Khan’s £190 million appeal hearing, a large number of lawyers approached the rostrum. The chief justice questioned whether there was an attempt to influence court proceedings and directed counsel to remain seated.
Barrister Safdar informed the court that the PTI founder was facing an eye problem and had been taken to the hospital for treatment. He argued that the bail suspension pleas had remained pending for nearly a year despite multiple requests for urgent listing.
According to Safdar, five miscellaneous applications had been filed seeking an early hearing. The court subsequently approved expedited consideration and scheduled the appeal for March 11.
After five and a half months, a hearing has finally been scheduled for the Al-Qadir case. Despite repeatedly approaching the Chief Justice’s office during this period, no hearing had been arranged.

Outside the court, Safdar expressed concern over delays and raised issues regarding the provision of legal documents. He also questioned the jail administration’s handling of procedural matters.

Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, described the delay as distressing and highlighted concerns about his health. Uzma Khan urged that the matter not be politicised and called for a public medical report.
Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry noted that this was the first hearing in seven months. He also mentioned that the Toshakhana appeal had been pending for two months and that a regular appeal number had now been assigned.
What is the Al-Qadir Trust (£190m) Case?
The Al-Qadir Trust case, commonly known as the £190 million case, relates to allegations that in 2019 an amount of Rs50 billion—equivalent to £190 million at the time—was adjusted after being transferred by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government.
The funds were linked to assets seized from a property tycoon. The NCA had stated that the settlement was a civil matter and did not represent a finding of guilt.
