A complete shutter-down strike is being observed in Shikarpur district of Sindh today (Friday) against last week’s suicide attack on Karbala-e-Moalla Imambargah.
At least 63 people were killed and more than 80 sustained grievous injuries when a suicide bomber struck the imambargah last Friday.
While protesting against the incident today, Shuhada Committee has demanded fool-proof security of imambargahs and immediate disbursement of compensations to heirs of the victims.
The committee has also announced to stage sit-in at Ghanta Ghar Chowk after Friday prayers.
The January 30th incident was the second attack on a Shia mosque since Pakistani security forces stepped up operations against Tehreek-e-Taliban and its allies following a December attack on a Peshawar school.
In a previous attack, seven people were killed when a bomb exploded outside an imambargah in the city of Rawalpindi on January 10.
