The Islamabad High Court approved on Tuesday pre-arrest protective bail for former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for a period of seven days in 12 cases relating to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) scam.
The court granted the bail against the surety bonds of Rs100,000 against each of the cases during the hearing of Gilani’s bail before an arrest petition.
Addressing the media outside the court, the Pakistan Peoples Party leader said he believes the court will deliver justice to him in the cases.
Earlier, an anti-corruption court in Karachi issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Gilani and PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
The judge ordered the authorities to arrest the two by September 10 and present them in court.
The order was issued after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented a final charge-sheet with 12 new cases registered against them.
More than 70 cases related to the TDAP scam had been pending before the court. Gilani and his associates were booked in 12 of these last year. However, both Gilani and Fahim obtained bail and exemptions from appearing in hearings.
