The Inspector General of Police Punjab (IG) of Punjab has identified Sanam Javed Khan as the main suspect responsible for incidents across Pakistan on May 9th.
Sanam Javed Khan has been arrested and is facing charges related to the May 9 incidents in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, and Rawalpindi. Further cases are expected to be registered in Quetta and other cities.
During a media interaction, the IG Punjab provided a unique explanation regarding the cases against Sanam Javed. When asked how many more cases Sanam Javed might face, the IG Punjab used an analogy to explain the extent of responsibility. He said, “If I declare that I will set the entire Pakistan on fire, then wherever the impact is felt, that’s where cases will be registered.”
He continued, “For example, if I say to set fire across Pakistan, then I would be held responsible wherever that occurs.”
The IG also criticized the IG of Islamabad for a lack of legal understanding, noting that an FIR against a crime cannot be filed unless the crime has occurred. He sarcastically commented on the IG’s competence, questioning if he belonged to some ‘jungle.’
