IEA Special Forces, during an operation in Kabul on Tuesday, killed the intelligence and military commander of the extremist group Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).
In a separate operation, the Afghan Taliban government arrested a senior ISKP official who served as the subcontinental leader of the terrorist organization.
According to the operation’s details, two Daesh members were reportedly killed during a midnight operation against a cell in Shahrak-e-First Zakireen’s Street in Khair Khana, PD 17, Kabul. Important ISKP member Qari Fateh was among the deceased. He formerly served as the Amir-al-Harb (military leader) for Khorasan, the head of the province of Kunar, and the head of the eastern zone. He is currently the intelligence and operations chief. He was in charge of recent operations in Kabul against diplomatic missions, mosques, and other targets.
Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told the media, “With the blessing of Allah, the criminal was punished last night for his barbaric deeds by IEA Special Forces during a complicated operation.”
Mujahid claimed that three Daesh militants, including its chief for the Indian subcontinent, Ijaz Amin Ahingar, had been killed on February 13 due to an operation by the IEA Special Forces.
He recently added that “many further Daesh members, including foreign foreigners plotting lethal operations, were also arrested.”
Notably, the operations take place against the backdrop of meetings where Pakistan was able to secure “fresh commitment” from the Afghan Taliban to address the renewed threat posed by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) after a high-level delegation led by the country’s defense minister visited Kabul last week, according to officials with knowledge of the situation.
