The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the largest prize pool in its history for the T20 World Cup winners. The tournament kicks off in the United States and West Indies, and the pinnacle match is set for June 29th in Barbados during the ninth edition of the ICC T20 World Cup.
The ICC has dedicated a total prize pool of $12.25 million for this year’s competition. The winning team will take home a record $2.45 million and the championship trophy, setting a new high for ICC tournament payouts. The runner-up team will receive $1.28 million.
The semifinalists who do not advance will each receive $787,500. Teams bowing out during the Super Eight stage will be awarded $382,500 each, and teams placing ninth to twelfth will earn $247,500 each.
Teams ranked last on the points table will each receive $225,000. In addition to the prizes for the semifinals and final, every match-winning team during the tournament stages will secure an additional $31,154.
The ICC T20I World Cup 2024, the most expansive tournament in history, spans 28 days and encompasses 55 matches. It begins with a first round of 40 matches, from which eight teams will advance to the Super Eight stage, leading to the semifinals.
