Veteran actor Ian McKellen has accidentally revealed a tantalising hint about Avengers: Doomsday, sending Marvel fans into a frenzy online.
The 86-year-old is set to reprise Magneto, a role he first played in X-Men (2000). Earlier this month, Marvel Studios released a teaser confirming the return of the X-Men, including McKellen as Magneto and James Marsden as Cyclops.
During a recent appearance on Jake’s Takes, hosted by Jake Hamilton, McKellen spoke about his involvement in the upcoming Avengers sequel. In a candid moment, he blurted out, “Though I do know I destroyed New Jersey the other day,” before instantly backtracking and admitting, “I probably shouldn’t have said that.”

The offhand remark quickly went viral. Fans took it as a major clue about Magneto’s impact on the film’s plot, even if the context remains unclear.
The sequel already boasts high expectations, with Robert Downey Jr. set to appear as the villain Doctor Doom. McKellen’s comment only intensified the excitement.
One user on X summed up the mood, writing that the sheer randomness of “I destroyed New Jersey” made them even more eager to watch the movie.
