Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a groundbreaking Kissan Package alongside an agriculture tube wells solarisation scheme. This initiative aims to enhance farmers’ welfare and boost agricultural development.

Farmers with up to 25 acres of land can participate in this solarisation initiative, which can greatly lower irrigation expenses. The government will fund 67% of the project costs, leaving farmers responsible for merely 33%.

Phase-Wise Implementation:

  • First Phase: 7,000 tube wells will transition to solar energy.
  • Second Phase: An additional 10,000 tube wells will be solarised with federal collaboration.

Transitioning to solar energy significantly reduces irrigation expenses to only Rs. 50 per acre, compared to Rs. 3,000 for diesel and Rs. 1,500 for electricity.

The Agricultural Tube Wells Solarization Program is transforming farming in Punjab!
