The start date for the 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been officially confirmed, with the tournament set to begin on March 26 this year.
The announcement followed a key meeting of the HBL PSL Governing Council held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. The session was chaired by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and attended by representatives of all eight HBL PSL franchises, as well as senior PCB and league officials.
At the outset of the meeting, the Governing Council formally welcomed the owners of the newly added Sialkot and Hyderabad franchises to the HBL PSL. Participants also congratulated the PCB and the HBL PSL management on the successful completion of the new teams’ auction, describing it as an important milestone in the league’s expansion and long-term growth.
The council held in-depth discussions on several strategic matters, including the HBL PSL 11 schedule, the player retention framework, and the introduction of a hybrid recruitment model known as “DRAuction”, which combines features of both a traditional draft and an auction system. Options for direct player signings were also reviewed.
Following deliberations, the Governing Council unanimously approved Thursday, March 26, as the official start date for HBL PSL 11. The decision has generated strong anticipation among fans, players, and stakeholders ahead of the new season.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was also agreed to establish a working group to further examine outstanding agenda items. The group will present its recommendations in a follow-up session, with the option to reconvene the Governing Council if additional approvals are required.
