The Harry Potter TV series has begun filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK. HBO shared the exciting news on July 14, 2025, along with a first look at Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter. This reboot adapts J.K. Rowling’s seven books, one per season. It promises a fresh take on the wizarding world. Fans can expect the show on HBO and Max in 2027.
HBO posted the first image on Instagram. It shows McLaughlin smiling in Harry’s iconic round glasses and school uniform. He looks ready for Hogwarts adventures. McLaughlin joins Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The trio emerged from over 30,000 auditions last fall.
Variety reported that the young actors bring a fresh energy to the project. McLaughlin has prior experience from Sky’s “Grow.” Stanton has starred in the West End production of “Matilda,” while Stout is a newcomer to the scene. The series features an impressive cast. John Lithgow plays the wise Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer portrays the strict Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu takes on the complex role of Severus Snape, and Nick Frost embodies the friendly Rubeus Hagrid.
