Harbhajan Singh, the legendary Indian offspinner, has recently shared startling insights into his current relationship with former India captain MS Dhoni. He revealed that Dhoni no longer answers his calls, signalling a cessation in their communication.
Harbhajan’s revelation quickly caught the attention of fans, given their history of playing together under Dhoni’s captaincy, including winning the World Cup in 2007 and 2011 and their time at Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
Harbhajan’s post read, “Strangers can become best friends just as easy as best friends can become strangers,” which did not mention Dhoni directly but was soon linked by followers to his prior remarks.
Harbhajan elaborated on their limited interaction off the pitch in the interview, noting, “No, I don’t speak to Dhoni. We only spoke when I was at CSK. It’s been over 10 years. I have no reason; perhaps he does. Our conversations were confined to the ground during the IPL, and we never visited each other’s rooms.”
Earlier, Harbhajan also suggested that Dhoni might have his reasons for not maintaining contact, although he harbours no ill feelings toward the former India captain.
Harbhajan and Dhoni were key contributors to India’s memorable 2011 World Cup victory and have played crucial roles in numerous significant victories for India throughout their careers.
The two shared the Chennai Super Kings dressing room in the IPL, with Harbhajan playing under Dhoni’s captaincy from 2018 to 2020.
