Hammad Azhar, a former member of the National Assembly (NA), resigned on Thursday from his position as president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab chapter.
Azhar announced his resignation in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter). He cited frustration over his limited access to the party’s founder and a lack of influence in key organizational decisions within the Punjab province. He expressed dissatisfaction with the prevailing decision-making processes, which he believes are driven by lobbying rather than merit, contributing to his discontent.
Despite the circumstances leading to his resignation, Azhar noted that he had not convened a press conference nor engaged in any negotiations related to his departure. He also highlighted his restricted movement, which prevents him from meeting with the PTI founder, who is currently detained in Adiala jail.
Azhar clarified that, although he is stepping down from the presidency of the PTI Punjab chapter, he remains dedicated to the party’s cause and will continue to support it as an activist.
