Prominent Pakistani journalist and GEO News anchor Hamid Mir raised critical questions via a tweet following recent proceedings in the Islamabad High Court.
During the hearing, the Federal Prosecutor General conveyed to the court that Ahmad Farhad, currently on physical remand, could not be presented before the court in Islamabad as he is detained in Azad Kashmir until June 2, which the prosecutor referred to as a “foreign territory.”
The statement prompted Hamid Mir to reflect on the operational dynamics between Azad Kashmir and Pakistan. He queried how Pakistani Rangers were able to operate within Azad Kashmir when the Prime Minister of the region had previously affirmed that he had not authorized their deployment.
Hamid Mir’s question highlights significant concerns regarding jurisdiction and the conduct of law enforcement agencies across different administrative territories.
