The private sector and flour millers have placed orders for import of wheat from different countries and shipments are expected to arrive in coming months.
Sources stated that the wheat is being imported from Russia, Ukraine etc at a price of $260-270 per tonne which may cost at Rs30-32 per kg.
He added that drop in imported price of wheat from $290-$300 had lured millers to import wheat.
A flour miller said that some 50,000 tonnes of imported wheat is likely to arrive this month which were booked at a price hovering between $260-290 per tonne.
He said that the government had made a good decision of not imposing any ban on wheat import which would discourage hoarding and black marketing of the grain.
