A major security incident has occurred in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district. Unidentified gunmen attacked a construction company camp, abducting 18 labourers.
The assailants also set fire to vehicles and heavy machinery at the site. The attack has caused extensive damage and halted a key road project.
The incident took place in the remote Kaleri area, about 80 kilometres from Khuzdar. Armed men blocked the highway before storming the camp. They targeted the site of a private construction company, D-Baloch. The company was working on a road project linking Khuzdar to Basima.
According to officials, the gunmen torched at least eight vehicles and machinery. They then forcibly took the workers with them.

The company’s manager confirmed that 20 workers were initially kidnapped. The attackers later released two of them, leaving 18 still missing. Most of the abducted labourers are from Sindh province. They had come to Balochistan for work on the construction project.
Following the attack, a joint search operation was launched immediately. Security forces, including the Levies, Frontier Corps, and Counter Terrorism Department, are involved.
The area has been cordoned off, and local tribal elders are assisting in the efforts. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. This is the second such incident in a week. Just days ago, nine labourers were abducted in the Mastung district.
These repeated attacks have raised serious security concerns. They threaten the region’s development process. The Balochistan government has condemned the attack. It has pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice as investigations continue.
