Unidentified gunmen targeted a helicopter transporting a high-level delegation from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to Parachinar. The delegation, comprising KP’s Minister of Law Aftab Alam Advocate, the Chief Secretary, the Kohat Division Commissioner, and senior police officials, was travelling to address the ongoing security issues and promote peace in the region.
Despite the attack, the helicopter managed a safe landing without injuries to those onboard.
Directed by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the officials were tasked with reviving a traditional jirga (council) to foster stability in Kurram. This initiative forms part of the broader strategy to collaborate with police and local stakeholders to strengthen law and order.
Previously, Law Minister Aftab Alam Advocate highlighted the government’s dedication to peace efforts, declaring, “The KP government, police, and other institutions are united in our serious efforts to improve security conditions. We are committed to actively ensuring the region’s peace and stability.”
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the attack as part of the ongoing security operations in the area.
