Musician Grimes, legally known as Claire Boucher, recently discussed her challenging custody battle with Elon Musk, the father of her children, on the social platform X.
During their dispute, she described Musk as becoming “unrecognizable” and disclosed that her social media activity and modelling career were leveraged against her in court.
Grimes recounted a year-long struggle for maternal rights in a state she views as unsupportive of mothers, noting that for five months, she was unable to see one of her children. She expressed the emotional and financial toll of the battle, stating she faced bankruptcy due to legal expenses and found it hard to concentrate on her art.

Despite these hardships, Grimes shared a positive outlook on her current state, revealing that she feels better than ever and is deeply involved in new creative projects. She described the transformative impact of motherhood on her life and creativity, likening it to extensive philosophical education.
The custody dispute, which involved their three children, X AE A-12, Exa, and Tau, reportedly concluded recently. Grimes and Musk separated in March 2022, leading to legal confrontations in San Francisco and Texas courts. The proceedings were sealed in December, restricting public and media access.
