Following All Parties Conference (APC) in Peshawar, the government has pledged to come up with a counter-terrorism strategy within a week.
Tuesday’s militant attack on Army Public School in Peshawar, the deadliest terror attack in Pakistan’s history, has triggered widespread revulsion, as political and military leaders have vowed to wipe out terrorism.
In the APC, the national political leadership reiterated its resolve to continue war against terrorism till elimination of the last terrorist from Pakistani soil.
In the conference, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed the resolve of the nation to take the fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion.
The leaders decided to form a committee under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to prepare a National Plan of Action against terrorism within a week.
Following the meeting, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, called off his party’s four-month long protest movement that was aimed at toppling the PML-N government, and announced to support the government in a decisive fight against militancy.
Today, the minister held a meeting with PM and exchanged views over the strategy. The two high-ups discussed matters pertaining to constitution of the committee as well as government’s decision to abolish moratorium on capital punishment.
