Govt ties FIR to end of PAT protest

Minister for Railways, Khwaja Saad Rafique, says the government will have the Model Town massacre case lodged against all the accused, nominated by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), if Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri calls his followers off the protest outside Parliament House.

“We are ready to have police register a baseless First Inspection Report (FIR) against us but for this to happen Dr Qadri will have to let thousands of innocent people go home”, Rafique told the media.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) minister also offered investigation into the case by any officer of Qadri’s choosing.

Rafique added the government had even cast before Qadri the resignations of all the ministers he wanted to go.

“Our bid met with rejection. And what he demanded of us was too much for us to offer”, said Rafique.
