The federal government has agreed to modify the gas load management plan so that home gas consumers can have natural gas for eight hours daily.
As per the gas load management plan, the consumers will receive gas from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., two hours from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch, and three hours from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner.
According to a senior Energy Ministry official, commercial users in Punjab would receive RLNG except for roti tandoors, which will receive system gas (local gas). The CNG, fertilizer, cement, and non-export industries will have no gas supply.
The winter season peaks between December 15 and January 31, the export industry’s gas supply to captive power plants may be shut off, and the power sector’s present 200 mmcfd gas supply may be reduced in half.
Pakistan’s gas shortage for the winter season 202-23 has been calculated at 1.35 billion cubic feet per day (billion cubic feet of gas per day).
It has been determined that the gas shortfall in the SNGPL system, which includes Punjab and KPK, would remain between 900 and 1,000 mmcfd.
