Google Wallet launched in Pakistan on Wednesday, introducing a more secure, straightforward, and convenient payment method. Users can download the app from the Google Play Store to make simple payments and store digital items such as loyalty cards and boarding passes.
As digital payments gain traction in Pakistan, Google Wallet provides a reliable and efficient solution for various transactions. Farhan Qureshi, Country Director for Google Pakistan, remarked, “Pakistan’s digital payments landscape is evolving rapidly.” He highlighted that Google Wallet is a payment tool and a platform that enhances shopping and traveling convenience by enabling users to tap-and-pay in stores, check out online effortlessly, and access digital boarding passes for seamless travel.
Qureshi also emphasized the broader impact of this launch, stating, “This launch supports financial inclusion and unlocks economic opportunities for all, reinforcing our commitment to Pakistan’s digital future.”
Today, cardholders from Bank AlFalah, Bank of Punjab, Faysal Bank Noor, HBL, Jazzcash, Meezan Bank, and UBL can integrate their cards with Google Wallet.

The integration will soon expand, enabling Allied Bank, easypaisa Digital Bank, JS Bank, and Zindigi customers to add cards. Additionally, online merchants like Onic, Gul Ahmed, Sana Safinaz, J., and KE have become accessible with PayFast’s integration with Google Pay, broadening the scope of online shopping possibilities.
Travelers will benefit from the convenience of storing and accessing boarding passes from airlines such as Batik Air and Thai Airways directly in Google Wallet. The app will send notifications about changes in departure times and gate information directly to users, ensuring a hassle-free airport experience.
Security and privacy are paramount with Google Wallet, which uses industry-standard tokenization to safeguard transactions. It assigns a device-specific alternate card number and a dynamic security code to each transaction, enhancing security. Additional safety measures include mandatory bank verification for adding cards and screen lock protection to ensure that only the device owner can access the wallet.
