Google Photos on Android may soon introduce a one-tap video editing feature, enabling users to add effects to their videos easily. This upcoming feature, still under development, was discovered hidden within the app and could be released to users.
The new ‘video presets’ feature, found in version 6.97 of Google Photos, is currently inaccessible to users. These presets include four tools: Basic Cut, Slow Mo, Zoom, and Track, allowing specific edits to either the entire video or parts of it.
Users can select the duration and the segments of the video to apply these presets, with the option to add more than one preset to a segment. However, videos with more than two edits reportedly cannot be exported.
The Basic Cut preset aims to trim to the key moment and enhance colours. Slow Mo adds a slow-motion effect. Zoom focuses on zooming in and out to highlight distant objects. The track automatically follows and zooms in on the main subject of the video.
It’s important to note that this feature was identified within the app’s code, and Google does not guarantee its future release. Further details will be available once it is officially rolled out to users.
