On August 26, 2025, Google launched AI Mode in Pakistan, an English-language, AI-powered search feature that uses Gemini 2.5 to deliver faster and more comprehensive answers to complex queries.
Google made this feature available on the Google App for both Android and iOS, as well as on web platforms, enhancing search capabilities for Pakistan’s 45 million internet users.
AI Mode enables users to ask longer, more nuanced questions, such as planning a 5-day trip to Hunza or finding resources for grade 9 math. It allows queries two to three times longer than traditional searches. T
he query fan-out technique breaks down questions into subtopics, leveraging Google’s Knowledge Graph and real-time data to provide highly relevant results. Multimodal capabilities also enable users to search using text, voice, or images, such as identifying spices in a Karachi market through Google Lens.
The feature supports a wide range of exploratory tasks, including trip planning and education. In Pakistan, 70% of early users favoured its conversational follow-ups. By integrating web content, shopping data, and real-time sources, AI Mode improves content discovery, reinforcing Google’s dominance in the $3.2 trillion search market.
