Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced that he will not submit his name for the auction of the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League. The 37-year-old did not provide a specific reason for the decision but described it as a thoughtful, personal choice.
In a message shared on social media, Maxwell said he reached the decision after reflecting on several unforgettable IPL seasons. He described the move as significant and said he made it with gratitude for everything the league has given him.
Maxwell said the IPL played a key role in his growth, both as a cricketer and as an individual. He highlighted the experience of sharing dressing rooms with the world’s top players, representing iconic franchises, and performing in front of passionate crowds as some of the most defining moments of his career.

He also thanked fans for their unwavering support over the years. Maxwell said he hopes to reconnect with them in the future and added that the energy, memories, and challenges of playing in India will always remain close to his heart.
During his IPL career, Maxwell represented four franchises. These included the Mumbai Indians, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Delhi Daredevils, and the Punjab Kings. Across those stints, he established a reputation as one of the league’s most explosive and entertaining all-rounders.
Maxwell’s decision comes amid a broader trend among senior international players reassessing their commitments. Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis and former England all-rounder Moeen Ali have also signalled a preference for the Pakistan Super League over the IPL in the upcoming season.
While Maxwell has stepped away from the IPL auction for now, his message suggests the door remains open for future engagements. For fans, his announcement marks the end of a memorable chapter defined by flair, impact, and lasting moments on the IPL stage.
