Legendary Italian designer Giorgio Armani passed away at his home in Milan at 91.
The Armani Group released a statement: “With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our founder, Giorgio Armani. He worked with passion until his final days, always devoted to his company and collections.”
A funeral chamber will be open at Milan’s Armani Teatro on September 6 and 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. A private family ceremony will take place afterwards.
Armani had planned to celebrate his brand’s 50th anniversary at Milan Fashion Week this month. He missed his June runway shows due to illness, which was not publicly disclosed.

Armani was born in Piacenza, Italy, in July 1934. At first, he hoped to become a doctor. A job as a window dresser in Milan sparked his passion for fashion. He founded the Giorgio Armani brand in 1975. His minimalist and elegant style reshaped modern fashion. Armani became known for redefining red carpet glamour and creating timeless designs.
Many credit him as one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. Fellow designer Donatella Versace paid tribute: “The world has lost a giant. He made history and will be remembered forever.”
