Cloudburst-induced floods struck Ghizer and Hunza districts in Gilgit-Baltistan, causing extensive damage, according to the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA).
The heavy rainfall triggered flooding in Khatam village, Gupis Valley, blocking the Ghizer-Shandur Road and damaging agricultural land and private properties. In Ghalapan village, upper Hunza, floodwaters destroyed an irrigation channel vital for over 50,000 forest trees.
The Gilgit-Baltistan government declared 37 villages across the region as calamity-hit, including 12 in Diamer, nine in Gilgit, five in Ghizer, four each in Skardu and Shigar, two in Ghanche, and one each in Nagar and Kharmang.

GB spokesperson Faizullah Faraq reported damages worth Rs20 billion, affecting homes, crops, roads, bridges, and utilities. The floods swept away 22 vehicles, claimed 10 lives (mostly tourists), injured four, and left 10–15 tourists missing. Search operations are ongoing.
The government has launched emergency and rehabilitation efforts to support affected areas. Pakistan has faced severe flooding since June 2025 due to cloudbursts, glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), and intense monsoon rains, with Gilgit-Baltistan among the worst-hit regions. Over 500 homes and extensive infrastructure have been damaged, highlighting the urgent need for disaster resilience.
