The Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, has urged the federal government to include the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) region in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, he emphasized that GB should be allocated a fair share of the national budget under the NFC Award, which would help address the region’s financial needs.
Haji Gulbar Khan further proposed that financial agreements similar to those made with Azad Kashmir should be established for Gilgit-Baltistan. “If the region is allocated a substantial share from the NFC Award, there will be no need for subsidies for Gilgit-Baltistan,” he asserted. The Chief Minister believes proper financial support would enable the region to become self-sufficient.
